Review

There are now more than 40 titles in the popular Company’s Coming
cookbook series. Rush-Hour Recipes was into its third printing a matter
of months after its initial release.

Recent volumes in the series, following the pattern of other modern
cookbooks, have begun to offer nutritional information, such as calorie,
fat, sodium, protein, carbohydrate, and fibre counts. That said, there
seems to have been little attempt to control the fat content of these
recipes. The volume includes many single servings with fat counts higher
than 15 grams, and one as high as 60.2 grams (Sun-dried Tomato Butter
Steaks).

The volume is beautifully illustrated and includes 150 pages of
tempting recipes that can be prepared in less than an hour. There are
recipes for every meal: main dishes, soups, side dishes, desserts, and
make-ahead dishes. About half of these are likely fare for company. A
page of measurement tables and two indexes complete this useful
cookbook.
