Review

Organizational change has been written about for decades in a multitude
of contexts. This book discusses change in e-business, which the author
claims is rapid and unrelenting. To deal with it, managers need to
promote and orchestrate change, or transformation, through e-leadership.

Kay outlines six strategies for achieving changing through e-world
leadership: accomplishing change while running existing businesses
(i.e., “on the run”); implementing cost control in order to achieve
profitability; earning commitment to the leader’s vision from all
persons involved in the enterprise; using people’s experience and
skills to improve the business; using change agents to implement
initiatives that will transform the business; and building a leadership
army that will establish the e-leader’s transformational approach
throughout the organization. Each of these six strategies is covered in
a separate chapter.

Kay, a management consultant, invites readers to visit a related Web
site (www. changeontherun.com). His well-organized and informative book
is recommended for managerial practitioners who are involved in
e-business.
