Review

True to its title, this tourist guide to Vancouver and Victoria, is
packed with color photographs of the attractions described. They
illustrate essays by local writers on the cities and their features.
Vancouver’s coverage includes sections on top attractions, dining,
shopping, entertainment, galleries, parks and gardens, sports and
activities, “kids’ stuff,” and annual events, plus maps and
descriptions of nine neighborhoods that include tourist attractions.
Victoria has three sections (top attractions, shopping, and dining), and
three nearby excursion destinations are also covered (Whistler, the Gulf
Islands, and the Sunshine Coast).

A quarter of the guide is devoted to listings of the activities by
type, with addresses, telephone numbers, and other brief information.
There is also an index covering much of the material in the essays. All
of this information is contained in a compact, elongated pocketbook
format that will fit easily into a backpack or large purse. As with any
tourist guide, information can go out of date quickly and users are
cautioned to confirm it before setting off.
