Review
The philosophy of this book is that barbecues can be used year ’round,
not just in fine weather, and though it describes itself as a barbecue
cookbook, recipes for drinks, salads, sauces, and desserts are included.
The intention is that all components of a meal can be found in this
book, and to that end, several pages of menus are also included.
The author notes that modern dietary trends are to lighter foods, and
she also expresses an interest in international cuisine. Her recipes for
appetizers, meat, seafood, and vegetable dishes reflect those interests
by including selected Greek, Indian, and Thai dishes as well as standard
North American fare. All are intended to be prepared on a gas barbecue,
and without exception they are different, intriguing, and appetizing.
Several pages of general information about gas barbecues, a glossary of
specialty foods, and a comprehensive index complete this useful and
appealing book.
