Review

Get Innovative or Get Dead! bills itself as a survival guide for
21st-century corporate leaders. According to the author, a business
consultant and motivational speaker, corporations should be focusing
their energies on building intellectual capital, which comes in three
forms: human capital (the competencies, knowledge, values, and
innovative potential of individuals); stakeholder capital (networking
with customers, suppliers, and others); and structural capital
(organizational learning capability, strategy, vision, and culture).
This book outlines “eleven commandments” by which intellectual
capital can be obtained.

Although its user-friendly format makes for lively reading, the volume
lacks the detail needed to guide managers in implementing the
commandments. Managers in search of survival tools are advised to look
elsewhere.
