Review

In this short book of handwritten text and line drawings, Siemens
displays an unusual and whimsical sense of humor. Who would think of
anthropomorphizing pedestrian traffic symbols, as he does in “Walking
Man—Spanking Hand,” which leave their post on the street corner to
run away for a holiday in the country. In another story, dead dogs tell
their life stories while waiting in a bar outside the Pearly Gates for
admittance to Heaven (where dogs aren’t a priority). Siemens’s
off-beat storylines are enhanced by his clever drawings. This is a funny
book that makes for enjoyable light reading.
