Review

Company’s Coming describes this very special addition to its highly
successful cookbook series as “a keepsake book that involves all
aspects of the Christmas menu and all manner of Yuletide occasions.”
Hardbound and pretty enough for the coffee table, this wonderful
collection will likely become a Christmas tradition in its own right, as
well as a permanent resident in the kitchen throughout the year. More
than 280 recipes, most of them new for this volume, cover all the
components of Yuletide meals from appetizers to desserts. They are
accompanied by mouth-watering color illustrations of the dishes
presented in holiday finery. But despite their elegant settings, these
are quick and easy recipes, using everyday ingredients, in the
Company’s Coming tradition. Many are suitable for making ahead. There
are suggestions for gift-basket goodies and for exchanges of cookies,
candies, appetizers, cakes, and puddings, as well as advice on cooking
in quantity for larger-than-usual gatherings. Menu-planning ideas and
instructions for holiday-table centrepieces and place settings round out
the collection. Both metric and conventional measures are given, with
straightforward methods and approximate yields. The perfect gift for
someone who loves to cook.
