Review

The content and brevity of coverage in this travel guide make it an
ideal core guide for the out-of-country visitor. The work’s strength
is organization. There’s a pattern—almost a grid—to the
presentation of information, which makes quick and easy access a given.
For experienced travelers, it gives the comfort of being just like the
other Ulysses guides used in the past.

The work covers the basics—all the basics, but just the basics.
Climate, time zone, currency, languages, embassies and consulates,
customs, airports, car rentals, rules of the road, accommodations and
attractions, taxes and tipping—the starting-point information every
traveler needs. The next step is to flesh it out with more detailed
guides tailored to specific areas and interests.

The guide covers New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia,
including Cape Breton, and has maps of these, both by province and by
selected tour routes. Attractions are rated (one-, two-, or three-star)
and restaurant prices estimated. The notes on towns, cities, hotels,
inns, restaurants, and attractions are brief and factual, containing
just enough detail to enable

an international traveler to enjoy a visit to the Maritimes.
