Review

As the authors of this guide rightly point out, correctly identifying
organisms is important, but can be difficult when there are several
similar species as well as variation within a species. This field guide
is intended to help readers with this identification process.

The distinguishing features of the fish are explained, along with
sampling regulations. This is followed by identification charts and
descriptions for each species (i.e., color figures, ecological
distribution, and behavior). References as well as a frame and bags for
non-injurious viewing of specimens are included.

The layout of the book is clear and attractive, and easy to use in the
field by anyone sampling salmonids. Net proceeds from the sale of this
useful guide go to the Pacific Salmon Foundation.
