Review

Healers at Work consists of 11 interviews with people who counsel and
care for others. The interviewees include workshop leaders, motivational
speakers, religious leaders, a practitioner of therapeutic touch, and a
music therapist. Most have adopted a holistic approach to people, one
that acknowledges and attempts to validate spiritual needs.

The author and his subjects are clearly very comfortable with each
other; there are no critical or probing questions of the sort that might
have added depth to a book that is somewhat superficial as well as
lacking in focus. Healers at Work may be of interest, however, to people
in the counseling or caring professions whose philosophic orientation is
similar to that of the interviewees.
