Review

If you are one of those well-intentioned home gardeners who make notes on the backs of old seed packets, this booklet is for you. Intended for the serious amateur gardener, this handy annual garden record brings all those notes and plans together in one place, and arranges them for ready reference. There is room to enter detailed information about three separate garden areas: soil test results, preparation, and cultivation and maintenance methods. Graph paper is included for planning garden layouts. A weather page allows you to record average temperatures, precipitation, and frost dates. The bulk of the booklet is alloted to information about that year’s experience with up to 25 different garden plants. Source of the seed, planting and transplanting details, special care, and a harvest record all have their place on the standard record forms provided. The concluding pages are for clippings, photographs, and ideas for next year’s garden. The meticulous gardener will find this information organizer well worth its relatively modest price.
