Music Directory Canada '84

The first edition of this marvelous reference source was reviewed in CBRA 1982, item number 1030. The directory has increased in size by 200 pages, largely the result of an increased mailout to approximately 13,000 firms; thus, there are 40 percent more listings, as well as three new categories (jingle production companies, music camps, and recording studio equipment suppliers). Two other features include a calendar of music-related events for 1984 (too late to be of any real value for 1984, but at least these appear to be annual events that could be watched for in succeeding years) and a listing of some Canadian artists (“Artist Contacts”), with details of their management company, record company, publisher, and booking agent. This last section, of course, is derived from returned survey forms and is thus not necessarily complete. The price is the same as the edition of two years ago (this is a good sign) and all the other 36 or so categories are back: associations, awards, competitions, consumer and trade shows, insurance companies, music libraries, rackjobbers, record producers, and so forth.
