Review

Fundy National Park is better known as the park on the Bay of Fundy. This guide is dispensable, yet excellent as a little backgrounder for the prospective camper or hiker. The lover of Canada’s natural history will also appreciate its informative text and beautiful color photographs.

The flora, fauna, and geological history of the area are all detailed and discussed in their interrelated wholeness, and the social history of the area is worked into the overall picture. The writing can at times be too dense, at other times nicely poetic. The research seems thorough and well presented. The tides, the most outstanding feature of this national park, are explained very well, considering the few pages given over to the topic. This is a book well worth the price for someone considering travelling in the Maritimes.
