Review

Here is yet another of Chatelaine’s many cookbooks by the prolific
food editor of the magazine, Monda Rosenberg, and the Chatelaine test
kitchen staff.

Glossy and generously illustrated, Sizzlers contains more than 200
tempting recipes organized not only by individual meats, fish,
vegetables, and fruit but also by ribs, kebabs, sauces, and extras. Each
chapter includes a page of tips intended to facilitate selection,
preparation, serving and cleanup. The recipes are clearly written and
easy to follow, and many include alternate suggestions for “Indoor
Sizzle” (i.e., indoor preparation by means of broiling or oven
roasting), thus ensuring that the book will be useful year-round. All
the recipes indicate preparation and grilling times, and, if applicable,
marinating times. Both imperial and metric measurements are used for
lengths, temperatures, and weights. Only imperial is used for volume
measures (teaspoons, tablespoons, and cups).

This book makes barbecuing accessible even to the inexperienced cook.
