Review

This entry in the Ontario Science Centre’s Starting with Science
series is a realistic, developmentally appropriate, easy-to-use book of
simple but exciting biology experiments. With their focus on the plant
world, the experiments introduce children to the world of seeds, soil
development, photosynthesis, acidity, and much more. The experiments
live up to the back-cover-copy claim that “they require only
kitchen-drawer equipment and minimal supervision.” The bright
photographic illustrations offer both example and instruction (the text
instructions are also clearly written and easy to follow). This book is
a great introduction to the science of plant life. Highly recommended.
