Review
Marconi Baird wrote this excellent, up-to-date guide to Toronto
specifically for “native and somewhat clueless wanderers like
myself.” Practical matters such as arrival procedures, customs,
immigration, and currency are paralleled with detailed maps of the
city’s key areas, tips on local public transportation, a brief history
of Toronto, and a list of quotations about the city.
Toronto’s many diverse neighbourhoods are described in
well-researched profiles, and detailed maps pinpoint the places of
interest and entertainment, as well as restaurants and shops, in each
region of the city. An extensive street index is most helpful. Separate
chapters are devoted to accommodation, places of interest,
entertainment, and restaurants. An added bonus is the inclusion of
Internet sites and email addresses wherever applicable.
This useful guide is well worth a careful read before, during, and
after a visit to Toronto.
