Review
Views of the Sault is an illustrated account of every built artifact of
any significance in Sault St. Marie, including historic buildings,
sculptures, industrial complexes, and ships. This enthusiasm results in
some 70 entries, allowing readers to become intimately acquainted with
that city. The essays include information on styles, designers, and
personalities associated with buildings, as well as anecdotes connected
with the landmarks featured.
Ingram is a writer who publishes a weekly column in the local paper;
her writing is marred by the occasional misuse of language. The
illustrations by Graham Smith, a local amateur, range from mediocre to
good. He seems to do better with historic works than with contemporary
buildings.
