Review

Tasting Diversity was produced, with assistance from Canadian Living
magazine, to support the programs of the nonprofit Working Women
Community Centre in Toronto. In the book, 46 immigrant women share their
dreams and experiences of coming to Canada, along with one or two
recipes that are unique to their culture. The contributors include
author Joy Kogawa, Toronto City Councillor Maria Augimeri, City of
Toronto Chief Administrative Officer Shirley Hoy, National Ballet of
Canada principal dancer Chan Hon Goh, and CBC television’s Suhana
Meharchand; each has a wonderful story to tell. The dishes are
delicious, although cooks who do not live in large metropolitan areas
may find it difficult to find all the ingredients. Recipes include Chana
Curry from India, Empanadas de Verde from Ecuador, Italian meatballs,
and Irish Bread and Butter Pudding.

With stories that inspire and recipes that gratify the taste buds, this
book will make a great gift for any cook.
