Review

This pair of guides, along with a good road map, are all the references
needed to venture into any of Quebec’s 19 tourist regions for a
vacation or a quick business trip.

The Ulysses guide follows the traditions of guides intended for
international visitors. After the usual quick dip into history,
geography, politics, flora and fauna, climate, currency, and laws, the
guide attacks each tourist region, giving specifics on accommodations,
restaurants, attractions, tours, shopping, and entertainment. Ratings,
price ranges, telephone numbers, charts of features, and similar details
blend with personalized comments, making the guide interesting both for
casual browsing and as a practical reference. A French glossary is a
nice addition.

In Affordable Bed and Breakfasts, country dining, farm excursions and
farm vacations, bed and breakfasts, and country inns are made accessible
through the listings. Like the guide on Quebec, this one too is
subdivided into traditional tourist regions; this plus an index make
finding a specific B&B quite easy. The entry for each B&B includes the
address and phone, number of rooms and baths, rates, months of
operation, a thumbnail sketch, and a very brief description or note of
special features. The listings are concise, clear, and orderly.
