Review

Montreal, Canada’s second-largest city, is more than 350 years old. It
has hosted the Olympic Games and is known for its European style and
cultural charm. While most of the information presented in this
guidebook is not exactly unknown, the authors have brought together a
wide range of facts, trivia, and thumbnail sketches of the city and its
colorful characters.

Tongue-in-cheek humor and an emphasis on scandal characterize the book.
Anecdotes about many fascinating attractions offer tidbits of
information of which most natives of the city will be unaware. The book
is organized into 10 sections, has an adequate index, and is well-served
by its many photographs. Although the text is marred by some glaring
errors, readers should enjoy the historical background and unusual
details not found in the average travel guide or history book.
