Review

Written for the beginning cook, this book gives the basics in what a
practical pantry should have, from soup to nuts, as well as the
essential equipment needed to set up your kitchen. Commonly used terms,
measurement tables, and helpful hints or “coaches” further assist
the rookie cook.

The recipes are accessible and include appetizers, soups, salads, main
course, desserts, and everything in between, as well as nutritional
content information (caloric, total fat, sodium, protein, carbohydrate,
and dietary fibre levels). While the author encourages the reader to
begin with simple meals, there are recipes for those interested in
making bread and pastry for pies. This book is a must-have for anyone
who wants to learn how to cook.
