Review

Art galleries, community museums, and multidisciplinary museums such as
the Royal Ontario Museum are not included in this guidebook, since they
can be readily found in the mainstream museum listings. Instead,
Ontario’s Amazing Museums features 275 small, theme-oriented museums
and displays in Ontario, holding collections of “neat stuff”
intended to inform and entertain. Various pioneer villages and homes, an
Elvis museum, military collections, the Bata shoe museum, a railway
museum, a children’s museum, and museums devoted to logging, farming,
geology, and exotic animals are just a few examples of the special
places to visit. The museums are presented in alphabetical order;
however, helpful city/town and subject indexes add immeasurably to the
guide’s usefulness.
