Review

This provincially organized listing of organizations and agencies
serving Canada’s youth includes groups ranging from the Boys and Girls
Clubs to youth substance-abuse programs and youth-run aboriginal
services programs. As the book’s compilers note, the list for Quebec
is particularly inclusive as a result of that province’s excellent
tracking mechanism for youth programs. The compilers have relied on
mailing lists of youth organizations and the provincial and federal
resources available, but as they acknowledge in their foreword, many
organizations are not included. They invite those they have missed to
submit their information for the next edition.

The book is clear, well organized, and easy to use. Readers can locate
a specific organization alphabetically by name of organization within a
province or territory; alphabetically from the list of organizations by
geographic location; or by area of interest in the index. Anyone
interested in youth and in programs and services for youth will find
this volume an invaluable resource.
