Review

Author Marty McLennan spent almost 10 months visiting more than 100 ski
resorts. His goal in this book is to provide useful information about
the 50 best North American ski resorts for families.

Each of the guide’s six chapters is devoted to a ski region,
beginning with Western Canada (the Banff area, the Okanagan, Kootenay,
the West Coast); progressing through the Northern Rockies and Utah,
Colorado and New Mexico, the Western United States (Nevada, California,
Oregon, Washington), and Eastern Canada (Laurentians, Eastern Townships,
Quebec City); and winding up in the Eastern United States (New
Hampshire, Vermont, Maine). Each chapter has an area map, a discussion
of each resort’s highlights, and an “At a Glance” summary of 18
key categories of information, including address, ticket rates, baby
sitters, daycare, and special deals. Written in a breezy, accessible
style, McLennan’s well-organized book provides all the information
that a family planning a ski holiday would need.
