Pat Buie is a nurse and educator. While teaching prenatal and family
planning, she developed a natural, noninvasive, and drug-free method of
sex pre-selection. The method is time-tested, spanning countless
generations, and based in large part on the work of fertility expert
Landrum B. Shettles.
Buie’s method involves timing intercourse with respect to ovulation,
and rests on two critical points: (1) having sex no closer than two days
before ovulation increases the likelihood that the “tougher” female
sperm will survive the acidic secretions of the vagina and reach the
egg; and (2) having sex right after the peak of ovulation favors the
“faster” male sperm, which can now travel in a more alkaline
environment toward the egg. The key to the book is charting and
interpreting the female cycle so that ovulation can be determined as
accurately as possible. The author also covers ethical issues, history
of sex selection, basic physiology, and the process of conception. There
is an excellent question-and-answer chapter and appendixes that include
diet information and blank fertility charts.
Although readers may find it exasperating to read through the endless
charts and details of fertile mucus, cervical mucus, cervical firmness,
body temperature, and so forth, these are the details that determine the
success or failure of sex selection. This book tells interested couples
everything they need to know about sex selection.
