Review

This compendium of 150 career tips reads like the one-minute
manager—perfect for techno youths who want fast info hits or for
harried middle managers. The book covers advancement and promotion,
improving performance on the job, career self-defence, maintaining a
positive attitude, and building a successful career.

The tips (a single page is provided for each) offer solid, easy to
digest advice. For example, one of the tips in the section on
advancement advises sending your boss a monthly newsletter outlining
your accomplishments. The section on career self-defence has numerous
practical tips on how to avoid downsizing or, if it does happen, how to
cope with it.

If Jobwise has a fault, it’s that the tips do not include more
complex advice on how to implement them.
