Review

The setting of this absorbing mystery is a geriatric hospital.
Conditions at the Brothers Charitable Heart Geriatric Hospital are
appalling. The nurses are indolent and the patients are “similar lumps
huddled beneath institutional green waffle blankets.” The action
begins with the murder of nurse Geneva, the latest in a string of gory
killings and mutilations. Assisting the police in solving the murder are
hospital security guard Harve Harvey and nurse Annie Cusco. These
characters may be flawed, but their repartee is delightful and keeps the
reader optimistic that all might end well.

The finale does not disappoint: The Rat Trap Murders is a page-turner
from start to finish.
