Review

Canadian wine has come of age. It is top quality and widely available.
This extensive guide for consumers helps make shopping easier.

The guide features more than 300 wines, rating each as two- to
five-star quality. The winery, vintage, price, and a description are
given for each. The wine types covered include the familiar
groups—chardonnay, gewunztramier, pinot blanc, riesling, sauvignon
blanc, rosé, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot noir,
icewine—as well as many lesser-known groups. Enough of the
wordsmith’s excesses have been retained to make reading the
descriptions of the wines a great pastime for a dull afternoon.
