Review

There are always high expectations for cookbooks designed for summer
living. Readers want recipes that are easy, fast, and yummy. This
cookbook is full of useful tips (highlighted in red) and flexible
recipes that allow for substitutions. The recipes are made with everyday
ingredients and many can be made ahead of time.

The book is divided into the following mouthwatering sections:
Appetizers, Starters and Sundown Snacks; Great Grilling; Salads and Side
Dishes; Make-Ahead Main Dishes, Pastas & One-Pot Meals; Light Bites;
Easy Eye-Openers and Sweet Stuff. The recipes are uncomplicated and as
tasty as they sound. Outstanding selections include Better Than Bought
Hummas, Devilish Cheese Twists, Curried Vegetables and Couscous, Grilled
Pound Cake with Warmed Strawberries, Skewered Fish with Spicy Lemon
Garlic Butter, and Lazy Summer Paella. Each recipe occupies one page and
the font is easy to read.

There is an index at the back and menu suggestions at the front.
Although a smaller format would have made the book easier to handle in
the kitchen, this is a working cookbook, designed to be used in the
kitchen; it should be included in everyone’s cooking library.
