Review

Stress is a part of the fabric of everyday life; this book offers a list
of various materials that can reinforce that fabric, and prevent it from
shredding. For individuals whose coping mechanisms have been dulled by
stress’s ennui, Reflections on Relaxation may initiate some minimal
reparative self-therapy. Stress-reducing techniques are rudimentarily
described in chapters with such action-motivating titles as
“Activate,” “Create,” “Surround,” “Learn,”
“Refresh,” and “Care For.” It is very difficult, however, to
take much of this seriously when suggestions like playing with a rubber
duck during a bath or using a favorite mug for morning coffee are
offered as bona fide direction.

On reflection, I think I’ve become more stressed having reviewed this
book.
