Review

These little books of quotations could be described as celebrations of
rock ’n’ roll, in general, and “the King,” in particular. That
they do so in such an irreverent manner is part of their charm.
Reference books, they are not. What they are is lots of fun—some of it
quite telling (as in, for example, the chapter title “Smorgasbord”
found in Viva Las Elvis). The most recognizable characteristic of these
volumes is their 2"x3" size. That said, they both have helpful indexes,
and in the case of Viva Las Elvis a sizeable discography.
