Want to send a note to Queen Elizabeth, share your thoughts with Conrad
Black, ask Rita MacNeil for an autograph, sound off to Jean Chrétien?
Here’s a source for the addresses you’ll need. Hammud lists,
alphabetically, 2000 prominent Canadians and their addresses. The
selection includes well-known names from the arts, the military,
business, entertainment, politics, sports, medicine, journalism,
academia, the media, religion, science, charitable organizations, and
research groups. For each individual there’s a brief identifier
(“author,” “law expert”); for companies, organizations, and
associations, the name and title of the senior officer is given.
By way of introduction, Hammud includes some pointers on the etiquette
of writing to celebrities. To add a lighter note, a quotation on letter
writing introduces the listings for each letter of the alphabet.
The index, organized by subject, is a researcher’s dream. Here, in
neat little capsules, are directories for Nobel Prize winners, Canadian
universities, museums, free-trade opponents, humanitarians, human rights
groups and notables, key names in fashion, diplomats, environmentalists,
police forces, publishers, think tanks, and more.
Librarians, authors, journalists, researchers, fundraisers, autograph
collectors, or anyone with a cause to promote will relish this book.
