Review

According to the author, the objectives of this book are irritation,
inspiration, and instruction: irritation, to get managers to change
their ways; inspiration, to energize managers to change; and
instruction, to familiarize managers with improvement tools and
techniques. Clemmer argues that in order to achieve high performance,
organizations must integrate three aspects of management: personal
effectiveness, leadership development, and organizational improvement.
Most management theorists would agree with this prescription, while
acknowledging that it is very difficult to implement. Business,
nonprofit, and public-sector managers could potentially gain from the
change model advocated in this book.
