Review

This collection isn’t for me; it’s for editor Bonnie Burnard, who
wanted “to read an anthology of stories written by men about good
men.” Moreover, she states that “I wanted to read a book such as
this, and I wanted a woman to choose what would be in it.” So this
anthology, which contains stories by such authors as Greg Hollingshead,
Patrick Lane, Leon Rooke, and Rudy Wiebe, will satisfy readers who share
the editor’s desire. But the question remains: do we really need a
Canadian anthology of masculinity?
