Review
The editors of Canada’s well-known literary magazine Descant invited
Canadian writers to submit new poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and drama to
be published in this anthology honoring the magazine’s silver
anniversary. Editor Karen Mulhallen states that “[e]very piece of
writing in this volume touches in some way on the process of creation,
on its origins, on its motives, on its means.” Notable selections
include those by Margaret Atwood, Timothy Findley, W.P. Kinsella, and
Katherine Govier. This is indeed a wonderful and varied collection, an
apt celebration of an important literary journal.
