Review

Playwright Paul Ledoux and musician David Smyth have previously worked
together on the award-winning musical Fire and on As Time Goes By. Their
most recent collaboration is a musical play set in “The Golden
Horseshoe,” a garish country-and-western bar replete with old saddles
and neon beer signs. The location is Thunder Bay, but, in keeping with
the authenticity that drives this play, the authors recommend that it be
changed to the location in which the play is being produced and that,
wherever possible, local references be incorporated. Exuding the feel of
faded jeans and scuffed cowboy boots, Cheatin’ Hearts is a fun,
sentimental romp through the world of country music.
