Review

This well-documented volume contains 11 insightful chapters, written by
experts, on the financing, production, distribution, and marketing of
films. Also included are a glossary, a sample development budget, a list
of sources of film funding, a sample script breakdown form, sample call
sheets, and shooting schedule forms. The requirements for both
television and theatrical distribution are discussed, along with
publicity, co-production, and legal issues. As Seaton McLean, president
of Atlantis Films, writes in one of the chapters, “this book is about
[business] and that’s what independent production in this country has
become: a business and a big one at that.” General readers and
aspiring professionals alike cannot help but profit from reading this
primer.
