Review

The stately majesty of a stand of thousand-year-old trees is
awe-inspiring. Randy Stoltmann, who died an untimely death in a
mountaineering accident shortly after completing this book, was devoted
to these trees and forests. This hiking guide is a partial record of his
research efforts.

Thirty hikes are detailed. The layout, the maps, the photographs, and
the information given are first-rate. The typeface is a bit small, but I
suppose smaller type means fewer pages, and more trees left standing.
Highly recommended.
