Review

Island Cycling features Vancouver Island’s best cycling routes from
Victoria to Port Hardy. The book includes important background
information on traveling and camping along the routes, as well as on
what equipment and accessories to take to make your trip comfortable and
safe. It also includes a section on the Cowichan Valley
wineries—highlighted by the Cherry Point Vineyards, home to British
Columbia’s only winery bed and breakfast—and notes every watering
hole (i.e., pub) along each route. Most of the routes are easy to
follow, and interesting side trips are described for those so inclined.
The chapters are thorough, easy to read, and punctuated with humor.

All in all a charming, fun travel guide best suited to the cyclist, but
also of interest for travelers wanting to know more about life on
Vancouver Island.
