Review

Essentially an inventory of pertinent archives at the University of
Calgary, this book gathers together just about everything written by and
about George Ryga. There are details about Ryga’s personal and
business correspondence; manuscripts of articles, speeches, plays,
novels, short stories, poems, music, lyrics, and reviews; a listing of
works about Ryga; and a large collection of correspondence from the
files of Renée L. Paris, Ryga’s literary agent from 1969 to 1976.
James Hoffman, author of The Ecstasy of Resistance: A Biography of
George Ryga (1996), contributes an excellent biocritical essay.

No library with a Canadian collection will be complete without this
expertly annotated and catalogued volume.
