Review

Finding financing is usually the most challenging and frustrating aspect
of starting and operating a small business. This book introduces
prospective entrepreneurs to sources of financing beyond the banks, and
covers the complete range of debt and equity financing, including the
offering of shares to the public.

The “Resource Guide for Enterprising Canadians” contained in an
appendix provides the names and addresses of public and private sources
of financial assistance. Another appendix includes a useful table that
summarizes the types and conditions of financing available. While the
index is good, the glossary could have been more extensive. All in all,
a solid primer in finance for Canadians who are considering becoming
entrepreneurs.
