Review

In the foreword to this collection of articles, a master of change is
described as someone with the ability to forecast trends, the courage to
act on premonitions, and the willingness to embrace change rather than
resist it. Masters of change have a strategic vision that enables them
to blend the best qualities of entrepreneurism with professional
management practices.

The 15 in-depth articles that follow profile corporations that have
transformed themselves in response to the changing environment, and that
are driven by three major forces: technology, globalization, and
demographics. The articles were written by 11 reputable business
journalists and freelance writers over a three-year period (1994 to
1996) and cover 15 different industries. Each has a brief introduction
and an afterword that provides more recent information.

As interesting as this compilation is, business aficionados may prefer
to read more current accounts of Canada’s masters of change.
