Review
As this play opens, a young man lies dying of AIDS. Gathered around him
are his lover Richard, his younger sister Judy, his older sister Tish,
and her husband Sam. While David is confined to his bed, his spirit or
essence, portrayed by a different actor, interacts with a German medical
student. At the same time, David’s loved ones attempt to come to terms
not just with his impending death, but with who he was in life.
Daniel MacIvor, actor, director, producer, award-winning playwright,
and artistic director of the Da Da Kamera Theatre Company, has written a
deeply moving and richly textured play about the effects of death on the
living. It contains some of the most beautifully crafted monologues it
has been my pleasure to read.
