Review

There are two types of puns: those that are bad and those that are even worse. And when it comes to puns, the badder they are, the better they are. Contained in this collection are more than 200 puns of the latter variety, which the author unashamedly describes as the worst puns in the world today. In a field where success is measured by the volume of the response with which a pun is greeted, this collection boasts some first-rate groaners covering a wide range of subjects which are about as bad as they come. To illustrate just how bad, did you know that Joan of Arc “didn’t quit, she was fired” and who could forget Moses’ famous first words on coming down from the mountain, “tenets anyone”, or the sad lament of the aging and luckless headhunter, “these days you have to be young to get ahead.”

Carefully selected by a well-known humorist who appears to have enjoyed every minute of his work, and attractively designed and illustrated with a special section featuring the best of the worst of the current crop of puns, this collection will be warmly greeted and enjoyed by all pun lovers and by anyone else who has the misfortune of being nearby when it is being read. As the overseer said to the papyrus harvesters, enjoy your reeding.
