Concordance de Bonheur d'occasion de Gabrielle Roy

Bonheur d’occasion was first published in 1945. As a novel, it was one of the more important creations in Canadian literature, particularly French-Canadian literature. It had dramatic importance for Quebec, dealing as it did with the changing values of rural life. In its English translation, of course, it is known as The Tin Flute. This computer-produced concordance, from the French text as published by L’Edition Beauchemin, is arranged as a KWIC index (Keyword in Context), citing chapter, page, and line. Eliminated are pronouns, some prepositions, and the verbs “être” and “avoir” (plus all their forms). A second section lists all the frequencies of word occurrences. Such concordances are becoming more and more valuable. A good, straightforward reference tool that fulfills all the necessary criteria of what concordances do — i.e., locate passages, reveal contexts, show usages of words, and show frequency of word use.
