This good, inexpensive text was written for educators, students, nurses, and social workers; it is also very suitable for libraries, especially with its strong Canadian content and emphasis. The topical arrangement covers five major areas. First, as a resource tool, it begins at the beginning with definitions and rates of occurrence among family and non-family members (these are summary findings of research), material about the offender, legal aspects, and treatment of the abused. The second section is a reading guide of basic books and their contents, and an annotated section of five films. The third part presents in-depth resource material, such as how to interview a child victim in order to draw out complete stories. The fourth part lists the associations and the groups involved (plus their addresses). The fifth section is an annotated bibliography of 60 pages, covering 1937-1980; the 180 or so items are arranged under some 40 rubrics.
