Review

Can anything important come out of a workshop in Saskatoon, someone from Eastern Canada may ask; the answer is yes, when it is sponsored by the Canadian Plains Research Center of the University of Regina. The speakers at this one-day workshop are an impressive list, including Leo F. Kristjanson, President, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon; David Slater, Chairman, Economic Council of Canada; Ron Lang, Director of Research, Canadian Labour Congress: W. Gil Johnson, Deputy Minister, Saskatchewan Advanced Education and Manpower; Roy Lloyd, President, Saskatchewan Mining Development Corporation. These and other speakers represented four important elements of society in their viewpoints: labour, government, advanced education, and business. The topics were pertinent to some of the major concerns of our time, Human Dignity and the Social Effects of Unemployment, Labour-Management Issues, Saskatchewan and High Technology, and Developing New Working Relationships for Canadian Business and Labour. The package was put together by Kenneth J. Alecxe, Saskatchewan Advanced Education and Manpower, and G. Wayne McElree, Saskatchewan Region, Employment and Immigration Canada. Well worth reading by all who are concerned about our economic and human problems.
