Review

His literary style is a crime in itself, but for those who like this sort of thing — i.e., a gloating appraisal of sensationalized true-life blood and gore — Max Haines is the man to give them what they want. Poisoners, gunfighters of the old Wild West, mass kidnappers and murderers, bloodthirsty, amoral, power-hungry monsters of all descriptions, crowd his pages of purple prose. All the same, somebody ought to do something about his spelling and syntax. Pop stuff, strictly for the fans.
