Review

The little toddler in Amie has grown up and is about to become a big sister. Other books have been written on the topic of a “new baby in the family,” but very few treat the subject with the love and positive attitude that Amie and Anika expresses.

Newborn Anika can’t do much. But Amie teaches her how to smile (by smiling at her a lot) and invents little games to play with her. When mom is busy with the baby, papa gives Amie some extra attention. And as Anika grows into a toddler as full of energy as Amie was, the big sister learns how to keep things away from little hands and how to distract her from dangerous objects. While this book doesn’t skirt the problems and inconveniences of a new baby, the emphasis is on the love Amie feels for her sister and the things they can do together.
