Review

Amie is a typical toddler. Through the simple, large-print text and the lovely illustrations (both done by Amie’s mother) we hear about the important events in her life: breakfast with her daddy, visiting with friends, making things with play-dough, and finally falling asleep cuddled up to her mother.

This is the kind of “everyday life” story, told from Amie’s point of view, that toddlers and young preschoolers particularly enjoy. The close and loving relationship Amie has with both her parents — dad seems to take an actively nurturing role in her life — comes through clearly on almost every page. While some children Amie’s age might be weaned, nursing is shown as a positive and important part of this little girl’s day.

Amie is a delightful person, and her story is told with real warmth and affection that even the youngest listener will feel.
